Solving the Problem ~ Assignment Eight

My problem was that Students at a college or university do not have the ability to afford comfortable housing. I interviewed people that pay for their own housing and people that still live at home both while still attending school. After I finished all of my interviews, I concluded that there is a need for more affordable housing. I understand there are scholarships associated with the school and other programs but it is usually not enough, or the guidelines are so strict it's hard to keep up with.

I am going into construction management. I want to become a general contractor and build rental properties. At least, that is the long term goal. I associated this problem with my career and created a way for students to afford housing easily. I asked the students what their ideal living situations would be like and most of them said places along the lines of apartments or houses so I thought I would offer both.

My solution would be to offer GPA based housing. I haven't really thought of a clever name yet but maybe the people who comment on this post can help with that. GPA's are obviously an important part of college and people with high ones should be rewarded for their hard work. This is how it would work... Students would apply and on their application they would attach a letter certifying their GPA. This is so we know they aren't lying. Their GPA will determine their rent for the entire semester. Each tenant would receive their own lease agreement and it would be for 6 month increments. After the semester, if they would want to renew, they would have to turn in their grades and GPA to create another lease and pricing for the next semester. There would be a monthly rate of utilities as well but it would be cheaper than the student having to do it on their own. They would also be in charge of purchasing their own food whether it be a meal plan, groceries, etc. This plan is to offer students cheaper rent so they can afford other things. People want to feel independent but also don't want it to break the bank so I came up with a solution to achieve both!

The first step in the plan would be obtaining homes/apartment complexes near campus. The prices are as follows...
